THE PORTRAIT

Lo scopo del ritratto è quello di tradurre in Fotografia lo spirito, l’attitudine, il mondo intimo, la storia di vita della persona, nel tempo limitato delle percezioni, irripetibili, che legano il fotografo al suo soggetto durante gli scatti. 

Essendo ogni persona diversa da ogni altra - per struttura intima, per capacità di esprimere se stessa, per forme, per come batte la luce su quelle forme, per attitudini relazionali col fotografo - non ha alcun senso che uno “stile” fotografico, che si dice debba contaddistinguere il fotografo per essere riconoscibile, s’imponga sulla libera ricerca che traduca in Fotografia la persona ritratta.

Il compito del bravo fotografo è raccontare il soggetto, non la fotografia in sé.

Il racconto di ogni persona, pertanto, è imperativo abbia la libertà di avvalersi di strumenti narrativi e di linguaggi ogni volta diversi quanto diverse sono le persone.

Nessun ritratto dovrebbe essere uguale ad un’altro.

The Portrait purpose is to translate the spirit, the aptitudes, the inner world, the story of the person's life into Photography, and in the limited time of the unrepeatable perceptions which links the photographer to his subject while shooting.

Each person is different from each other for intimate structure, for the ability to express himself, for forms, for how the light strikes on those forms, for interpersonal skills with the photographer. So, it is a nonsense that a particular photographic style - you can be told it should be necessary for distinguishing one photographer from another – has the priority on the free research to traslate the portrayed person in Photography.

The best photographer’s goal is to tell the person, not Photography itself.
For a photographer is imperative to be free to use narrative tools and languages every time different as different are the people.

No portrait can be equal to another by assumption.
